What can be done to help the children in Haiti? The pictures of the devastation are heart wrenching and many people want to do something, anything, to help. While a pipeline is developing for those children in the process of being adopted and their adoptive parents, clear direction has yet to be established for those children who were yet to be adopted, or have been newly orphaned by this tragedy. The Beacon, the official blog of the USCIS, is a great resource for those adoptive parents whose adoptions were in progress before the earthquake struck on January 12, 2010. New applications are not being processed at this time. To impact the children of Haiti today, the best thing that can be done is to make a financial contribution to a reputable organization working in the region.
