You always knew you wanted to have a family, and you knew you’d always be there for your children, whatever they needed. It turned out to be a lot harder than you expected.
Through my work in family formation law and family law, I’ve seen many families go through extremely difficult situations in trying to have children or ensuring security for the ones they have. Do any of these scenarios sound familiar?
• You want very much to have a child, but medical issues have prevented you from getting pregnant or bringing a baby to term. You’ve considered adoption, egg and/or sperm donation, and surrogacy, but you’re not sure which is best for you. You want to know that once a child is placed in your arms, that child will be legally yours – forever.
• You already have children and want to ensure your parental rights are recognized and protected, and that you are allowed to be a present and loving influence in their lives.
• You are either single or are part of an unmarried, committed relationship, and you deeply want children in your life. You need help overcoming the societal barriers that might prevent you from creating your family.
• You want to ensure that your children are raised in a loving home and will be provided for financially if anything should ever happen to you.
If you see yourself in any of these scenarios or have other concerns related to the legal issues around building and maintaining a loving family, I am here to help you. My priority is to help you build and maintain the strong, devoted family you envision.
